Common Wealth Games 2010 in India.



The 19th Common Wealth Games 2010 are going to be held in Delhi, India. The President of India, Mrs. Pratibha Patil has accepted the invitation for Queen’s Baton Relay 2010 Delhi’s launch ceremony for XIX Commonwealth Games 2010 Delhi. Opening Ceremony of the XIX Common wealth Games 2010 Delhi on 3 October 2010. India with a population of over 15 million, compared to (2006 games hosts) Melbourne's 3.7 million and Greater Manchester's 2.5 million population at the 2002 games.

The Commonwealth Games is held every four years involving the athletes of the Commonwealth of Nations. The first such event that known as the British Empire Games, was held in 1930. The name changed British Empire to Commonwealth Games in 1954. As well as many Olympic sports, the Games also include some sports that are played mainly in Commonwealth countries, such as lawn bowls, rugby sevens and netball. There are currently 53 Commonwealth nations and 71 participating teams.

The recent Commonwealth Games were conducted between 15-26 March 2006; in Melbourne, Australia, the capital of Victoria state which is the second largest city of the Kangaru Continent. India will also be hosting the XIX Common Wealth Games for the first time and In Asia for the second time; in 2010, in Delhi, the capital city of India. The sports that are held in this Common Wealth Games are Cycling, Netball, Rugby, Athletics, Basketball, Weightlifting, Squash, Table Tennis, Shooting, Aquatics, Gymnastics, Bowls, Hockey, Badminton, Boxing and Triathlon.

Tickets for Common Wealth Games in India.

Tickets for Commonwealth Games 2010 at Delhi will be on sale in June 2010.Around 1.7 million tickets will be available which are subject to availability and will remain on sale until the start of each event.

There are some free events (no ticket for that), including Road Cycling and Marathon. These events will take place at Central Vista (India Gate) and Greater Noida Expressway.
